Accessibility statement for encorefeedback.co.uk

This statement applies to the website at encorefeedback.co.uk, run by MCR Systems Ltd. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, and accessibility is part of how we build everything that carries the Encore name.

Our commitment

MCR Systems Ltd is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for everyone, including people who use assistive technologies. We treat accessibility as a design requirement, not an afterthought: it is part of our design system, our development standards and our testing. The Encore product itself (the feedback kiosk and the management portal) is built to the same commitment, with WCAG AA contrast, 44px touch targets and bilingual support on the kiosk as standing requirements.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, at three levels: A, AA and AAA.

This website is fully conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA, based on the self-evaluation described under "How we assessed this website" below. Fully conformant means the content conforms to the standard without known exceptions. If you find something we have missed, please tell us using the feedback details below and we will fix it.

How this website supports accessibility

  • Semantic HTML with a logical heading structure, landmarks and a skip-to-content link, so screen readers and keyboard users can move around efficiently.
  • Every part of the site works with a keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
  • Text colours meet WCAG AA contrast against their backgrounds throughout.
  • The site respects your reduced-motion preference: the decorative hero animation pauses and scroll effects are disabled when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Text can be resized to 200% and the layout reflows without loss of content or function.
  • The site remains usable with JavaScript switched off; scripts only add enhancements such as the interactive kiosk preview.
  • The decorative hero video is silent, carries no information, and is hidden from assistive technologies.

Known limitations

We are not aware of any parts of this website that do not conform to WCAG 2.2 AA. Two things are worth stating plainly:

  • The interactive kiosk preview is a simulation for sighted evaluation of the product's look. It is keyboard accessible, but the fastest way to assess the real kiosk with assistive technology is a demo, which we are happy to arrange.
  • Some linked documents and pages (for example the privacy policy and the modern slavery statement) are hosted on mcr-systems.co.uk and are outside the scope of this statement.

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

This website is designed to work with the current and previous major versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on desktop and mobile, and with common assistive technologies including screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver), screen magnification and speech recognition software. It is responsive from small phone screens to large desktop displays and does not require a mouse, a specific orientation or JavaScript.

Technical specifications

Accessibility of this website relies on HTML and CSS, with a small amount of JavaScript used only for enhancements. There are no third-party frameworks, embedded documents or media that convey information.

How we assessed this website

We assessed this website ourselves (self-evaluation). The assessment combined an automated scan of every page against the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rule set using axe-core, with manual checks covering keyboard-only navigation, visible focus, skip-link behaviour, 200% zoom and reflow, and reduced-motion behaviour. Issues found during assessment were fixed before publication. The Encore product is additionally scanned with axe-core as part of our continuous integration pipeline on every change.
